Instead we ended up at the ER. Fishing in the pond wasn't producing any bites so we headed to some ocean waters! The only problem was that it was in a tidal area so it was muddy (and slippery). Both boys managed to nearly reel in a crab, but it all came to an end when Jake fell and gashed his leg on an oyster shell. We can say that we still haven't had our first stitches though! Apparently oyster shells carry a bacteria that, if a cut is closed up, is guaranteed to cause infection. So, they cleaned it up, put Jake on antibiotics and told us how to care for it. I'd rather care for a stitched up area than a gaping wound... maybe next weekend will be better.. and I think we'll stick to fishing at the pond.

wow! who knew oysters were so dangerous?! glad he's ok though!
and how fun to go out behind your house and go fishing!!! i bet the boys are LOVING that!
and still no pictures of this "new" haircut you got.....
;)
Loved the fishing photos but really happy to see that smile on Jacob's face after his trauma! Whew! Little boys and their trips to the ER...Babi
bummer about the ER trip, but so fun that you can fish in the back yard, or just beyond your backyard! Hope that you all are enjoying the summer!
joshers really enjoyed this post! And he's very concerned for Jacob and his "scratchies" Glad to see Jake smiling through it all. In spite of the cut and ER trip, it sounded like a very fun day, and a very memorable one!
the boat and it's unknown story are almost irresistible. like the car(truck?) you found in the desert. some people just collect coins or shells.....
too bad your day ended at the er but i see he's still smiling.
i have a feeling you have many ER visits coming in the years ahead. Ponds are too boring for boys........
