Minnesota

Although there is less snow here than we left behind in the desert (weird!), the kids are still having fun in it. Probably because they are getting to enjoy it with their cousins! From left to right: Maddie, Brady, Jake and Austin. More to come!

Happy Anniversary

To us! Today is our 7 year anniversary. Wouldn't trade those 7 years for the world!

Last night we went to Jacob's christmas play at school. Here is my proud mama moment - he was playing the part of "joseph"! And let me say, he was the best "Joseph" ever (all you mom's out there who have had your own "joseph", just let me have my moment!).

"Mary" was played by Jacob's friend "Chloe". This was really cute since Jacob seems to have a soft spot for her. Once we went to her house and Noah asked Jake what he was going to play with. Jacob responded in a contented voice "whatever Chloe wants to play with". Hmmm...

Isn't he just growing up so fast? I really couldn't get over how big he looked up there - and there was not a hint of stage fright. Wasn't I supposed to be up there coaxing him to stay and telling him it was okay? I guess those days are over. Oh well, he did search for us in the crowd and wave multiple times - I guess that will have to do.

Pics from run

These are the only pictures I have for now. There were photographers all over the place and these were taken by them. Brian carried that coffee cup the whole race and kept asking the cops lining the route if they had any coffee. Weirdo... ;) Also, the hat he is wearing is not his. Some other runner dropped it and he picked it up and wore it the rest of the way. Yes, we will be washing that.
This was at the start. Fireworks and Elvis singing "viva las vegas"

We did it!

Brian and I ran the las vegas half marathon over the weekend! I have been training for months and it was exciting to finally do it. I think we both did better than our expectations. Today our legs and feet are sore, but it was worth it! I don't have any pictures back yet, but I will post them when I do. Here are our times/rankings though. There were 10,000 runners - it was a giant sea of humanity at the start line! Anyways, pics to come later....

kung Fu Fighters

Jake and Noah think that they are kung fu fighters. Here are pictures of some of their "moves". Please, don't be afraid! ;)

Thanksgiving

I hope everybody had a great thanksgiving. Ours definitely was. It rained that day, which is kind of a phenomenon around here, so while the food was cooking the kids played outside in the rain. The turkey turned out great this year (fully cooked!) and after all was said and done we had dry kids and full bellies. What more could one ask for? :)

Mess

Boys: Mommy, mommy look what we did!
Me: What did you do?
Boys: We took every toy in the play room and threw them all into a big pile!
Me: Great.... (is this as deep as their creative minds go? Yikes!) :)

No-Bobs

Last night the boys and I were looking at their baby pictures. We started with Jacob and I told him "that was when you were BORN". After a few minutes Noah said "mommy, I want to see pictures of me when I was BORING"! :)
A newborn once? Yes. Boring? Never!!!

Our "star"

Jacob is "star of the week" at school this week so we had to put together a poster board "showcasing" him. I thought you might enjoy! I love that on his list of "likes" he made a point to add "taking showers". Such a proud mom moment! I wonder if that will last through his teen years?!

Halloween

My two super-heroes. Maybe they could use their "super powers" to give themselves good attitudes and cheerful hearts! :)

Here's the crew - darth, spiderman, superman, chicka chicka boom boom tree and a pumpkin.
Brian had to work late so I was the pumpkin carver this year. Once again, my craft skills, well, not so much... :) But the boys loved their pumpkins (the fish is Noah's and the face is Jake's) so that's all that mattered. Until next year.... (for the halloween posts. I will have more post sooner than that!).

Field trip

Jacob's school went on a field trip today to a farm/pumpkin patch. Since I volunteered to help, Noah was able to come with. The theme was "Noah's Ark" so everyone had to dress up as an animal from the ark. Noah wore his monkey costume from last year and Jacob got a home-made tiger outfit. I definitely did not get my mom's craft skills! At least in pre-school kids think that any costume is really cool! On friday night they are going to be spiderman and superman (in which costume Noah is currently napping!), so stay tuned for more pictures. :)

Brothers

We asked the boys, on their birthdays, what they appreciate about eachother.
Noah's answer: "I like it when Jacob sits on my head"
Jacob's answer: "I like Noah because he loves me and SOMETIMES he is nice to me"
Isn't the sweet, simple love of a child so refreshing?!

Vacation - day 5

Our last day was probably one of my favorites. We started out at a place called "happy isles". It was a river in it's low season that ran through rocks and had pretty bridges. We climbed rocks and logs across the water for a long time - it was so peaceful! Later we took a bus up the hills to "glacier point". Talk about a gorgeous view!
The last picture is the cabin that we stayed in that night. It was just a wood frame with canvas walls. The box we are sitting on is our bear box. You have to put all of your food in there - it can't be in your car or your cabin since bears have a keen sense of smell and like human food! Fortunately we didn't have any run-ins with bears. Five days after we stayed in our "tent" there was a rockslide that landed on that little village. I'm glad we were gone!
