I don't like making sugar cookies

However, when enough time passes I start to convince myself that I do. Last spring Sarah and Charlie came for a visit and brought some dinosaur cookie cutters - they have been sitting in my drawer (the cookie cutters, not Sarah and Charlie!) slowly convincing me that I want to make some cookies. Jacob has also noticed them and was slowly convincing me of the same thing. So, last night we took on the task. I have to say, the boys really enjoyed it and that alone made it worth it. However, after rolling out, cutting, rolling out, cutting, rolling out, cutting I was getting tired and we hadn't even started frosting them yet ( a sugar cookie isn't really a sugar cookie without frosting!). Fortunately for me I had eager boys to help with the frosting - unfortunately for me the reason Noah wanted to help was so that he could rotate between spreading the frosting and licking the frosting. I was too tired to point out to him that it was unsanitary to do that - I couldn't risk losing one of my frosters! So, at the end of it all my feet and my back hurt and half the cookies have Noah's saliva on them. Some would say it wasn't a successful venture, but just look at the smiles on their faces at the end - I would say "mission accomplished"!!! Now, no more sugar cookies for a long time!!!

You are one brave momma! I'd probably be hesitant to start something like that too! :)

Oh cute, sweet goodness- what good pictures of the boys at work! That looks like tasty fun! (for the boys) and work for you- what a good sport! Sugar cookies are like painting- I get excited about the thought of it, the creative aspect of it, and the end result, but then I get into it and am reminded why it has been so long since the last time I did it. I'm just happy those cookie cutters didn't end up in your garage sale...yet =) I wish we were in your drawer, we could have some good times

Good job, Stacy! I am impressed you managed to pull out a camera during all of that!

Look at their concentration! You are building industry, patience, and endurance into their little lives while God is doing that in yours : ) And look at the end result. I bet even God is smiling on you.

nicely done. I showed Aidan your pics and now he wants to make cookies too. Every year at Christmas I make them, and then vow to never make them again. Last year I even got together with some girflriends and their kids to do it...... i found frosting all over for the next few weeks!

good job stacy !! (and why is the sugar cookie recipe always the one that makes a zillion cookies??) you are in the business of raising good husbands. they can handle a hammer and paintbrush (the dog house entry) and pitch in around the kitchen. ilona

I'm glad I'm not the only mom with the sugar cookie woes! ;o) It is a ton of work, but so worth it when it's all said and done! We usually pick once a year, usually Christmas or Valentine's Day. That way it's a special tradition for them and I don't get burnt out! I love the dinosaurs!
